Holi Images – Holi is a vibrant and colorful festival celebrated primarily in India and Nepal. It is also known as the “Festival of Colors” or the “Festival of Love”. The festival usually takes place in February or March each year and lasts for two days.
The first day of Holi is called Holika Dahan, which is also known as Choti Holi. On this day, people light a bonfire to symbolise the victory of good over evil. The story behind this day goes back to Hindu mythology, where a demon king named Hiranyakashyap tried to kill his son Prahlad for worshiping Lord Vishnu instead of him. But, Holika, the demon king’s sister, had a boon that she would not be burnt by fire. She tried to burn Prahlad along with her, but instead, she herself got burnt in the fire. So, people light a bonfire to celebrate the victory of good over evil.
The second day of Holi is called Rangwali Holi, Dhulandi or Phagwah. This is the day when people play with colors and water. They throw colored powder and water on each other, dance, sing and enjoy traditional sweets and delicacies. This day is all about spreading love, happiness and forgiveness among people. It is also a day to forget all differences and embrace unity and brotherhood.
Overall, Holi is a joyous festival that brings people of all ages, religions and backgrounds together. It is a time to celebrate life, love and happiness.
